We arrived in the UAE!

29 hours since leaving little old Nelson we arrived in Al Ain to see our gorgeous little grand daughter Milan who now weighs 6lb 3 oz or for those of you would can't convert 2.79kgs.  She is still tiny to us but to her Mum she has grown heaps.
I will post some photos of life in Al Ain tomorrow.
Just letting you know that we arrived safe and sound.

The planning stage

Pete and I are off on our big OE at the end of February, with a very important event happening in the UAE.  My daughter Sara is having a baby in early March so it all worked out brilliantly, so that I could be there for the birth of her baby girl.
We are away for 8 weeks and have a few adventures planned during the time.  In the UAE while being Nana and Grand dad we will check out Dubai and Abu Dhabi for a couple of days each, as Sara lives in Al Ain which is about 1 1/2 hrs away.  She has been there for 2 years now and loves the lifestyle and her work as an ICT Facilitator.
Hopefully during the first 3 weeks, there will be some deep sea fishing, sand dune driving, camel ride, a trip to the top of the tallest building in the world and finding out the life and culture in another country.
Then we head off to Athens to meet up with a cruise around the Greek Islands, stopping off in Santorini for 3 days at the end of the cruise, then flying back to Athens for 2 days and then off to Malta for 9 days, back to Rome for 2 days, then back to Dubai (AlAin) for 8 further days to spend more time with Sara, Dan and Milan.  Then we head homewards, with a 4 day stop over in Melbourne to visit my son Matt and his two boys Hendrix and Jett (now only 4 weeks old).  We arrive back in the middle of the school holidays which is just perfect for settling back in.

I am going to update this blog from time to time so that you can see what we have been up to.
